CÃO – André Cepeda (a different reading from the studio’s perspective)

Is a sound. Is an idea. Is music, literature and cinema.

Is a specific vision, a way to see things – the city, its details, the anthropology and the architecture – from a different perspective.

Is random, is abstract, is in and out.

Is empathy and intuition.

Is rhythm.

Rather than recover the installation at Pedro Olivera’s gallery in Porto through the installation’s view, André proposed me another reading: a different possibility to accede the images. The single images and the whole page. The studio’s layout is thus an extension of his vision that intends to re-elaborate the preview one in a combinatorial key. Each of the images is a contribution on the dog view: a contribution itself, but at the same time a contribution that is part of an extensive and complex strategy that brake the linear narrative trying to process the city in its different scales. The images and their different size offer a continuous movement that goes from the inside to the outside, from top to bottom, from one extremity to another. A spontaneous movement that invites the visitors to follow the rhythm and contribute to other potential readings. Rather then certainties, the studio’s proposal, as well as the one at Pedro Oliveira’s gallery, try to prominently elaborate the contents on the plan of exceptions, exclusions, incongruities, and contradictions.

CÃO – André Cepeda (a different reading from the studio’s perspective)

by Claudio Zecchi

Interested in the present time, the economic crisis, the instability and incertitude, moments that belong to history. Things that are common to all places, but difficult to find, select and interpret. Trying to build new ways of looking at reality and the space with social and political identity. Spaces and moments that have been forgotten, where there is a certain suspension.

Trying to forget.
